About the T-Shirt

Who started the Red SUPPORT OUR TROOPS T-shirts?
Designer
Paul
 Vietnam Vet 1966-1968
from MN

In August of 2006 Paul received a e-mail from a mother of a soldier who was fighting in Iraq.  She said, wouldn't it be great to see the country covered in RED every Friday until all the troops come home.  That is when Paul came up with the idea of the red t-shirt that read SUPPORT OUR TROOPS on front and back and RED FRIDAY on the right sleeve.

On December 21, 2006 we found out that our dad (Paul) had Terminal Cancer and it was just a matter of time.  After news spread about dads cancer he received many visits, cards and e-mails.  As a way to show dad all the support that was there for him, my sister came up with the idea of using construction paper and making ribbons like you see on cars. Every time someone would visit, send a card, call or e-mail we would decorate a ribbon, put their name on it and hang it on the wall so dad could see all the support.

On January 11, 2007 we received a visit from the mother of a soldier who is in Iraq.  She stopped to tell Paul that her son and his fellow soldiers had flown the American Flag on January 1, 2007 in his honor thanking him for all his support and for everything he was doing.  What this soldier didn't know was that January 1st was Paul's 61st b-day.  What a great Birthday present!!!!  We didn't know until that day actually how many people our dad had touched and how far his efforts had gone.  On January 15, 2007 Paul passed away.

In my dads honor we are continuing his mission to support the men and women fighting for our country.

Show your love for your country and the support for the men and women fighting for it.

Please remember to wear RED ON FRIDAYS.
